Contemporary Documentary Practice with Ilvy Njiokiktjien and Ziyah Gafic
Kranj Foto Fest in partnership with VII Academy is proud to announce a 3-day workshop with the photographers Ilvy Njiokiktjien (the Netherlands) and Ziyah Gafic (Bosnia and Herzegovina), for the first time in Slovenia.
The intensive workshop Contemporary Documentary Practice will teach you how to tell visually compelling stories. You will enhance your personal perspective and work on an ongoing or new project in this class conducted by VII photographers Ziyah Gaficand Ilvy Njiokiktjien.
You’ll present your work in a small group and learn about new techniques to create visual storytelling as well as a business practice. During the session, Ziyah and Ilvy will undertake individual and group critiques of what you shot, but you will also have the opportunity to obtain feedback on other projects you may be working on.
There will be an emphasis on helping students develop their personal vision and unique styles. As Ziyah Gafic and Ilvy Njiokiktjien both specialize in telling human stories, they will share with you their unique visual styles and approaches.
Gafic and Njiokiktjien’s works have been exhibited at many relevant galleries and photo festivals such Visa pour l’Image in Perpignan, Arles Rencontres du Photographie, World Press Photo and at Photoville in New York. Their work is regularly published in some of the world’s leading publications like The New York Times, GEO, National Geographic and Der Spiegel.
