Ludwig Nikulski\u00a0is a Berlin-based photographer, who was born in Greifswald at the Baltic Sea. He studied Fine Arts and Philosophy in Greifswald and Photography in Berlin where he graduated in 2018.<\/p>\n

Growing up in a small town in Eastern Germany he is intrigued by the extreme. Whether it is the large scale of a metropolis or a vast and lonesome landscape. Ludwig travelled to Iceland to explore an inner state of isolation, where he shot his series Opal in August 2020. Opal is a conceptual and autobiographical reflection on isolation. The project starts with a prosaic and confusing text, which is based on personal experience. There is not a strict narrative in this photo story, demanding from the viewer a personal reflection and resonation.<\/p>\n

Ludwig<\/a> has received many awards and stipends such as Stipend by K\u00fcnstlerhaus Lukas for the \u201cNes Artist Residency Skagastr\u00f6n\u201d, Iceland (2020); Nominated for Dokumentarf\u00f6rderpreis W\u00fcstenrotstiftung (2020), German Photobook Award Bronze in the category student projects (2018) and Finalist for the Award for Emerging Artists Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (2018).<\/p>\n
